take short cuts to lose weight tend to pile the pounds on back again. If you suffer from a fluctuating weight problem then you are certainly in for trouble because this will harm your health considerably.

In addition, it will also harm your mental state because you will suffer from feelings of inadequacy at being unable to stick with a fitness or diet program. However, it is possible to lose weight for good as long as you do the right things.

One thing that you have to be aware of is that long term weight loss is only possible if you lose weight slowly and steadily. Crash diets put your body through a lot of stress and your body reacts by craving more food than you would have eaten normally.

You should therefore aim to reduce your daily calorie intake by 500 – 1000 calories, keeping the minimum intake at 1200 calories. This will help you burn around half a kg a week without exercise, depending on your starting weight, and you will also get all the nutrition that your body needs in order to function normally.

Don’t leave your diet to guesswork make sure you seek help from a qualified dietician instead who will make you a meal plan that gives you the right amount of calories and the other nutrients that you need. When you do start a daily weight loss diet you should try eating five to six small meals daily instead of the more conventional three large meals. Chewing the food slowly while savoring it also helps you lose weight because it makes you feel full faster, thereby helping you control the amount you eat every day.

You should also try to limit your television viewing time because this is one activity that causes a lot of weight gain since it keeps you inactive while encouraging you to snack, especially on the wrong kinds of food.

Try to become more active in any case in any which way possible. This can include walking to work or taking public transportation rather than using your car. You should also aim to be more active around the house in order to burn more calories than you currently do.You should increase the amount of exercise you do, aiming for a minimum of 3 days a week.

Make sure that you keep up the exercise for 40 – 50 minutes per session. If going to a gym is what you prefer then you should actually join a gym and perhaps even see a personal trainer to get you kick-started. If not, you could do something you prefer such as walking, swimming or playing sports.

The simple way to understand long term weight loss is that it requires you to increase your activity levels while decreasing the amount of food you eat. Be very disciplined because you will benefit greatly from losing weight. Now that you know what to do there is no reason for you to avoid losing weight.

If you’re active, you don’t need to exercise every day, or constantly watch your diet to live a healthy, happy lifestyle according to personal trainer Rob Quatro.

Some might say Quatro is a little controversial, but he is helping turn lives around with his refreshing approach to health and fitness and his 10 week mentoring program to help people to lose weight through learning and getting back to the basics.

Quatro is the owner of Freedom Personal Training studio on the Gold Coast, Australia. He has more than 24 years experience in the health and fitness industry and has won a host of national titles in body building and power lifting. He was also heavily involved in professional boxing as a contender and trainer to world ranked athletes.

He believes the health and fitness industry has a lot to answer for with a lot of misinformation about training and nutrition.

“People don’t need to train everyday.. it’s about training people to live healthily to bring them back to basics.. Do more with the family, walk to the local shops, don’t use the remote.. get up and change the channels, get moving more, and stop dieting it’s what is going to make you fat,” he urges Major brands and organisations also have a lot to gain from spreading false information about food and food choices.

“Carbohydrates are not bad, don’t be scared of them, people need a variety of foods as every food group has its benefit to the body”, he said There are many people who believe in cutting out all carbohydrates after three in the afternoon, he laughs, “Like the body knows it’s 3pm, time to store the fat! ask yourself where this information is coming from?”

People should take a more patient approach to weight loss as there is no magic bullet or quick fix that is going to work in the long term. To obtain and maintain a healthy body is about creating good lifestyle choices and seeing the good in yourself, love yourself and ultimately reprogram your mind and heart to believe in yourself. he said

“I see skinny people who think they are fat, purely because they have such low self esteem and don’t love themselves,” he said

Quatro’s 10 week mentoring program is aimed at educating people to make the right food choices and to get active, but ultimately it’s about helping people to believe and love themselves through the journey. If you would like to know more about Rob Quatro’s mentoring program you can contact him at http://www.freedompt.com.au

The Hidden Epidemic?

Coeliac Disease (pronounced Cee-Lee- Ack) is being coined the Hidden Epidemic by professionals.

Why?

I thought I would help explain what Coeliac Disease is. Here in Australia we have just completed a national Coeliac Awareness Week. From the 13th to the 20th March each year The Coeliac Society holds the Coeliac Awareness Week to bring light onto this often confusing dis-ease. Symptoms have previously been ignored or tolerated and with what is estimated to be 1 in 100 Australians affected by this, awareness is essential for a high quality of life.

Coeliac Disease:

An hereditary condition, coeliac disease is a permanent, autoimmune disorder where gluten, found in wheat, rye, barley and oats, causes the body to produce antibodies which damage the lining of the small bowel. Inflammation of the bowel occurs which in turn makes it hard for people to absorb nutrients from the food they eat. As a result, one of the first signs can be unexplained tiredness and a general lack of energy or get-up-and-go. The body is essentially producing antibodies that attack its own tissues.

Tiny, finger like projections in the bowel (the villi) which absorb nutrients, become inflamed and flattened in people with untreated coeliac disease. So imagine a shag pile carpet versus a threadbare carpet and you have a good idea of what happens to the villi in untreated coeliac disease. Damaged in this way, the villi are unable to absorb the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients we all need for healthy growth and bodily function.
Children as well as adults can have coeliac disease.
Sufferers become ‘starved’ and as a result, their bodies can’t function properly.

Undiagnosed coeliac disease may result in:

Unexplained anemia

Nutritional deficiencies such as iron, folate or B12

Fatigue

Gastrointestinal disturbance such as flatulence, abdominal distention, diarrhea and/or constipation

Nausea and vomiting

Unintentional weight loss/gain

Delayed growth or delayed general development in children

Headaches

Liver problems

Multiple unexplained fractures

Irritability or failure to concentrate

Education outcomes that are not as good as they might be

There could be a higher risk of having coeliac disease if you have:

A family history of coeliac disease

Type 1 diabetes

Unexplained osteoporosis

Infertility or multiple miscarriages

Coeliac disease may affect at least 1 in 100 people, or nearly a quarter of a million of the population. Currently fewer than one in five has been diagnosed. Many people may have a GLUTEN INTOLERANCE, which is NOT an allergy. Coeliac disease is. They can both exhibit similar symptoms so it is important, easy, fast and painless to get the facts right by making a quick visit to your chosen health professional.

All Designer Physique products are currently Gluten Free. I personally live a gluten free lifestyle as I have gluten intolerance myself. I find bread, pastas, wheats etc act like glue in my body resulting in gas, bloating and difficulty digesting. Choosing Gluten Free foods wherever possible makes life so much easier for someone like me who has gluten intolerance.

To those with Coeliac Disease however, it is essential to avoid gluten entirely. The body reacts negatively and if undiagnosed, this disease does not go away. It gets worse as you get older.

Many people who are Coeliac or gluten intolerant should avoid dairy due to the lactose found in all dairy produce. The Designer Physique Pea Protein Isolate is the best protein of choice for such people. It is gluten free, dairy and lactose free, soy free, and contains a pH level of 7.5 which means it is an alkalising protein. The chocolate and vanilla taste amazing just in water as well.

We serve a number of clients who have Coeliac Disease and gluten intolerance. From their testimonies we hear that the Designer Physique range is digested with ease. We take care to produce the highest grade for our entire range and will continue to do so. A couple of testimonies, (more under ‘testimonies’ on this page):

“Fantastic feedback from another person with autoimmune disease. They started on Tony Sfeir Designer Physique protein based upon my recommendation (no nasty artificial sweeteners and gluten-free!) She says: “Well, I finally purchased some of the Designer Physique Whey Protein Concentrate in Swiss Chocolate and whoa! Yummo. Even made with water, it was thick and tasted like…wait for it….chocolate. No artificial aftertaste. Nothing….I am now converted. Thank you soooo much for recommending them.”

“If we even get the smallest amount of gluten, it causes so many problems. I’m trying to teach my children to eat well and build stronger bodies (since being unable to eat gluten also). Without Tony Sfeir’s products; I start to get run-down and have flares. I found his Digestive Boost to be SO valuable. We had a nasty stomach bug and it helped to neutralise it. My little girl was so happy to have it and felt relief almost immediately.

Coles and Woolworths also sell a great range of Gluten Free produce these days. So if you have any doubt, go and have the test done. If you have been unexplainably tired, bloated, lethargic, sleepy, or getting diarrhea/constipation particularly after eating carbs – it is worth getting checked.

LOVE YOUR LIFE, LOVE YOUR BODY.

Ladies Slim Lean/ Lean Boost
1 spoon (enclosed) in a small amount of water first thing on waking. Can also take the same amount 15 minutes before exercise.
WHY?
This is a 100% pure product, powdered form. Mixed in water it goes straight to the blood stream and helps to use your long chain FAT CELLS (the ones that you think have camped out) FIRST- As your first source of energy!! Got to love that!

Whey Protein Concentrate in Swiss Chocolate or French Vanilla
100% NATURAL. You can give it to your kids and pregnant ladies can drink it – why would you drink anything they can’t?

1 scoop = 30gms.
70% PROTEIN.
2.2g CARBS per serve! That’s nothing!!

1 scoop mid morning / mid afternoon in water for a snack provides 70% protein, 7.5% carbs. This is the perfect amount of protein but NOT ENOUGH CARBS for a complete snack, so always team it with a LOW GI piece of fruit (carb) such as apple, pear or handful of berries.

If you want to beat the sugar craving you MUST FOLLOW THIS!!
This is a snack you can have 30mins to 1hr BEFORE training to release protein and carbs slowly. Hence enabling the body to have energy to burn without it being too heavy in the stomach.

If you like the DP protein in lite milk this is OK too- you do not need the fruit (carb) if you choose to have the milk option.
The option with milk is great AFTER WEIGHT TRAINING as it has more high GI carb (milk).

Your muscles MUST be replenished with high GI IMMEDIATELY after weight training.

Why?

You have depleted all sugar from your muscles during weight training if you are weight training to failure. You NEED to replenish so your body does not store sugar coming in at a later time.

Secret: If you do a full on weight training session it should ONLY LAST MAX 30 MINS. If you are going longer you are probably going TOO SOFT.

Also; if you want some sugar- go for high GI after you have wasted your muscles. Now is the time to eat high GI- you have a 15 minute window to have 5 marshmellows OR 5 jelly beans OR DESIGNER PHYSIQUE protein shake with milk.

Healthiest option: the shake of course

Tony Sfeir’s Immuno Boost.
1 teaspoon in a shake/juice whatever twice to 4 times per day.
WHY?
Keeps your immune system strong!! When going through any change be that physical emotional, spiritual , your immune system is attacked. This is normal – by feeding it 100% NATURAL (ie non synthetic) L-Glutamine you build it up to enable you to withstand THE WORKS.

And so much more

Tony Sfeir’s Fibre Boost
Start with ¼ teaspoon and build up to 1 teaspoon per serve. Put it in your shakes/juices whatever you like.
Best taken in the morning- to get you going.. ie passing a great number two and flushing your toxins = losing weight, no bloating, flush flush flush.
There is no other product like on the market. This is 100% pure, in POWDER form. NO CONSTIPATION LIKE THE OTHERS!!!
It actually works.

Tony Sfeirs Greens Boost

Take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for cleansing and detox, it also comes in handy for extra energy as you feel the goodness going through your body and zapping you awake! – Use it as a supplement when you’re missing your greens in a meal… The taste may take some getting used too although some people love it, you can mix it with fruit juice or try it with icy cold water.

Tony Sfeirs Digestive Boost

Does not need refrigeration, the bio active ingredients come alive when you mix them with liquid and you are sure you are getting 100% what you paid for. Get all the good bacteria into your gut by taking it regularly in the morning. Start with 1/4 teaspoon and work your way up to 1 teaspoon per day

Then breakfast

Mid morning snack two/three hours later (Tony’s protein shake with apple)

Lunch

Mid Morning Snack (Tony’s protein shake with apple)

EVERY SINGLE SNACK/MEAL MUST HAVE PROTEIN AND CARB

If you do not do this:

YOU ARE LIKELY TO CRAVE SUGAR (your body needs to be given the right balance with the right nutrients).

I have been in the fitness industry since 2003. I am a fully established fitness professional and have developed a high profile over my years in the industry. I run my own very successful personal training business and am involved in corporate health. I am heavily involved with Les Mills Asia Pacific and present throughout Australia in RPM and Body Attack. I am a competition winning Sports Model and compete around Australia in various competitions. I have had a very successful few years! One of my greatest achievements was making the cover of Australia’s prestigious ladies fitness magazine; ‘Oxygen’. I am now involved with Oxygen magazine by writing articles for them, and other health and fitness magazines throughout New Zealand and Australia.

I am a huge believer in educating people on health and well being. I believe that more people need to be aware of what they are putting into their bodies. When I heard about Tony Sfeir’s Designer Physique I was instantly interested in trying their products as they are a 100% natural supplement with no artificial sweeteners. I had stopped using protein powders previously as I was concerned by all the nasty ingredients that are hidden in them. Also the false advertising by the companies; -they only care about making money and not about the health of the consumer.

After looking over Tony Sfeir’s Designer Physique website and checking out all the information on their supplements, I tried the Chocolate Pea Protein Isolate and I was blown away by the taste!! It was like drinking chocolate mousse. Designer Physique really honoured their word, its 100% natural and tastes great! Finally I had found what I had been looking for!

I am in the public eye and I am always getting asked by clients and followers what products I use. I feel so safe in being able to recommend them to use Designer Physique supplements. Not only for the fact that is in their own best interest for their health but also because of the care and support put into this company. This company is all about customer care and has very strong beliefs that they implement to make sure that the consumer is happy.

My clients are loving their supplements, I have had nothing but positive feedback from them so far. They are happy with the quality, the taste and the support they have received. The great thing about Designer Physique is the support doesn’t end after you hand over your credit card details, the support is ongoing.

I am now an ambassador for the Tony Sfeir’s Designer Physique brand. I feel very proud to be an ambassador for a company who practises what they preach. I am finding out more and more these days that companies are all about themselves and not the consumer. I wave the Tony Sfeir’s Designer Physique flag very high and stand by them in knowing that together we are working on helping people live healthier by educating them on the facts. I am not here to fool anybody, the proof is in the pudding.

Rising star: Miss Kelly Rennie.

Kelly has always been interested in health and fitness but it was only last year when she and her partner Paul Glazby opened their unique fitness studio in Sheffield, UK- “PrimeMovers.” Shortly after this, Kelly decided to start training for her first body sculpting competition. In a mere 4 months time she placed 2nd for “Figure” – Northern British Natural Body Building Federation (British Natural Bodybuilding Fed)

Then went on to take 3rd place “Figure” in the – UK Championships – British Natural Body Building Federation (BNBF) plus is currently competing in the finals for the prestigious title of World Sport Model.

Kelly’s journey is one you could experience too, if you put your mind to it. She sat down in a café one day and made the decision to set a goal and keep it. Very few people these days have the dedication to do that. It wasn’t easy and there were times when she probably wanted to quit. She may have even slipped up a few times but instead of lamenting about mistakes, she just got back up and soldiered on.

Kelly used Tony Sfeir’s Designer Physique WPC flavours and Immuno Boost in training for her competitions for the superior quality, it being 100% natural and the taste. She has recently been introduced to Tony’s Pea Isolate flavours; both her Paul have fallen head over heels for the Swiss Choc and recommend that for their vegan and vegetarian clients.

Tony Sfeir’s Designer Physique is proud to endorse a 100% natural sports girl as one of many fantastic ambassadors educating more people on real issues in health and nutrition.

If you would like to shed the fat and increase your metabolism like Kelly has; take advantage of the great offer currently available in the Australian Oxygen Women’s Fitness Magazine.

Look for the Designer Physique brand if you are serious about your health and achieving real results.

Nicky Watene and Che Henare started a weight-loss challenge in June 10. They encouraged 34 ladies in their local community to jump on board and get serious about a healthier way of life. In a bid to keep costs low, the ladies began to search for experts who would aid them in this challenge for a nominal cost. Nicky and Che where successful. Soon Personal Trainers offered bootcamps, discounted RPM classes, zumba and other activities. Their local community hall offered the use of their facilities for training, and weigh-ins on Saturdays. Today Tonight picked up the story and ran with it. Why? The fact is that 62% of adult Australians are overweight so this is an issue very real to our country right now.

Many in this group had come from a line of overweight or obese parents, some participants had already experienced heart attacks, some were already classified as obese. They were determined to stop this NOW so, with the desire and reasons to change their lifestyles clear, they wanted to be a shining example to themselves; their friends; and very importantly to their families, especially to their children.

The girls trained hard. They were zumba-ing with The Zumba Queen, pumping, jumping, running hills, spinning and dragon boat racing… you name it, they were doing it! Half way through the challenge they hit a plateau and realised something was missing. It was then that The Zumba Queen – Chadissa Whale, sugested they call the team at Designer Physique for samples of 100% natural protein powder. This is the only protein The Zumba Queen recommends as she herself experiences the common side effects of headaches and bloating from other proteins containing artificial nasties.

Nicky called and Tony Sfeir, CEO of Designer Physique got behind the group 100%. Tony immediately set up a nutritional seminar which 20 girls chose to attend. It was music to their ears. Tony taught them how to eat, what to eat, when to eat and that “food is not the enemy”!! They loved it!! The group had asked for samples but Tony gave each of the 34 participants 2 x 750g tubs of his latest 100% natural whey protein in Swiss Chocolate and French Vanilla. This assisted in speeding their metabolism, kept them full between meals, removed sugar cravings, increased energy and gave them an easy to mix, great tasting ready to drink meal replacement or supplement anytime of the day by just adding water! The testimonies came flying in as soon as the girls got home and tried it!!

Jodie: Hi Tony, just finished taking your seminar with the Coomera 8 Week Challenge..thank you so so so much for empowering me with knowledge in how to combat my struggle against weight and helping me to understand my relationship with food and how it all assists with my training.. so awesome thank you:)… Jodie:oh just had choc with soya milk. This s like having a real chocolate fix but its all goooooddddd for us. Whoever thought it could feel like we’re having our favourite milkshake at Wendys or something!!! I’ve found a new addiction and it’s actually nutritional…

Laine: Can’t get enough of the shakes, thank you thank you Designer Physique for the goodies, encouragement, support and empowering us all!!!! Your Swiss Chocolate shake has cured my chocolate addiction. Loving it, have to hide it from my kids now because they think it’s chocolate milo….lol. that’s how good it is!!! The shakes are a part of my life now and I will have to get a tub for my kids too because they really love it. You know the shakes really saved me in this challenge and Tony’s seminar gave me better insight with my eating which has been a lifestyle change. I couldn’t thank you enough for introducing this to us!

Niki: Man I’m totally loving the shakes,, talk about YUM! My fav is vanilla, banana, with water, …whats your favs peps, I wanna make and try it!

Designer Physique protein helped smash the sugar cravings out the window! Mixed in water it really accelerated their weight loss by drinking it as a snack or they used it as a meal. We offered online coaching and mentorship to the ladies in the area of food diaries as well.

This group started together and finished together! They supported each other when the chips were down and rode the wave when the tide was high. Their presentation evening was held on Sat 14th August 2010 with Today Tonight in tow to seal the deal. Tears and emotions were flowing as you would expect. Weight loss is a journey and everyone has their own challenges. These girls learnt so much about themselves, the support they had for each other and surprisingly (they thought) found support form local businesses – people they didn’t even know!

The most important thing they realised as they came through this challenge is that it was not about comparing results with anyone else. What was, and is imprtant, is that a lifestyle choice and change is made. They chose LIFE now and it certainly showed. They were radiant on that Sat night. Stunning in their gowns they graced the floor with slimmer, healthier figures. The life that shone from each and every one of them was worth the effort and then some!

Every single one of the ladies is a winner in the eyes of the Designer Physique team. Most people quit. Not these ladies; they hung in there and ran across the finish line with bright smiles on their faces, and some tears Now armed with the knowledge and experience of a short term goal, they are gathering troupes for their next challenge which starts in three weeks time. Celebrating their much deserved success today, they continue on the road to health and longevity. Maintaining their exercises now and ordering an array from the Designer Physique range, they now understand nutrition is 80% in achieving their ideal figure.
